Occupational Health
ANA is committed to advocate for safe working environments of nurses. Nurses are exposed to many hazards in the healthcare settings, such as needlestick and other sharps injures, blood and body fluid exposures, other biological exposures, chemical exposures, workplace violence, shiftwork and long hours, and patient handling. Employers, as well as nurses, must ensure that proper workplace controls are in place, to avoid work-related injuries and illness and maintain compliance with national and/or state legislation.
