A large piece of the work undertaken by ANA involves being a source of information on nursing quality, due to the research and measurement efforts of NCNQ®. Research projects explore the relationship between nurse staffing and outcomes of patient care, leading to insight on best practices. And careful documentation of the nursing-sensitive indicators collected through ANA's National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI®) provides valuable quality measurement. This nursing quality information can then be used by healthcare centers to make informed staffing decisions.
